My practice explores memory, connection, healing, and the emotional life of everyday experience. Through line and fluid media, I create work that embraces experimentation, simplicity, and the unexpected. I am particularly interested in art as a form of visual therapy in the ways art can help us approach difficult memories

Exhibition History

Play and Boundaries: The Lines That Connect Us marks Lovelyn Tijesunimi-Israel’s inaugural solo exhibition, exploring the interplay between play, boundaries, and self-discovery. Through intricate line drawings inspired by childhood games, Chinese philosophy, and global events, the artist examines the tensions between personal desires and societal expectations. Reflecting on growth, resilience, and belonging, the exhibition invites viewers to reconsider the lines that both connect and define our shared human experience.

Until We Meet Again

This project explores the quiet grief of lost friendships and the pain of being abruptly cut off without explanation. Grounded in my lived experience of ADHD and Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD), it examines how rejection, self-blame, and the absence of closure become forms of embodied mourning. Drawing on the Takotsubo, a traditional Japanese octopus trap and namesake of Broken Heart Syndrome, I use the metaphor of a trap to reflect on the emotional entanglement of lost friendships and the difficulty of letting go.
